I read it as his life was becoming better, and then depression pulled the rug from under his feet. And he ends up at the first place that made him happy – the library – and the drugs just pull him down further.
It’s about trying to be happy, or trying to retain happiness when you have depression? Holding on to something that can never be regained. Anyway, that’s’ how I read it.
I think it’s very subtle, very different to your philosophical soliloquies. Very nicely done.
Love that your doing well on patreon: https://www.patreon.com/akimbocomics
always make sure you got quality peers.
Is that bookstore based on the Borders that used to be near Boston Commons?
Damn, boy, this one hit almost too hard. 🙂
Thank you for sending these fucking rockets to the deeps of the earth.
This is great. I discovered your webcomic two weeks ago thanks to Metafilter, and I’m reading hrough the backlog at about one or two a day. I’m amazed at how consistent the quality is. I have never posted a comment on a webcomic in my life, and I read a lot of webcomics. Yours are among the finest in the craft, the one that really make me think about the medium as a medium. On top of that, your art is top-notch, and the things you have to say are always worth hearing. Keep it up.
I think you should definitely compile all the Eat Shit and Die issues into a book. I would be the first to buy it. Love your work.
You still alive, man?
I’m not blowing smoke up your ass when I say your work means something to a lot of people out here. I think on the whole the kind of person who identifies with your shit is unlikely to leave a comment, but your work helps.
Keep it up if you’ve got the juice, if you’re just burned out take whatever amount of time you need to recover.
I hope you’re okay. Good luck, bud.
One of my most favorite living artists for years now. I hope you’re well, your work has meant a lot.
